Professional Standards Overview

“At the Puerto Rico Association of REALTORS®, we take ethics complaints seriously. As a neutral third party, we are obligated to process complaints filed by interested parties, depending on the situation in question. We cannot, however, investigate conduct, no matter how intolerable the situation, or file complaints on our own behalf. If you believe that a REALTOR® has violated the Code of Ethics, we encourage you to file a complaint using the following attached complaint forms.”

When joining a Board or Association, REALTORS® agree to abide by the Code of Ethics as a continuing condition of membership. It is because of the obligation to abide by the Code of Ethics that you can file a complaint.  Before filing a complaint with a Board or Association of REALTORS®, it must be determined if the real estate agent involved is a REALTOR®. Not all real estate agents are REALTORS®. Only those who belong to a Board of REALTORS® can legally use the term REALTOR®. Therefore, it must be determined if, and to which Board of REALTORS® an agent belongs. 

ETHICS COMPLAINTS

Please find enclosed a copy of the Disciplinary Complaint Form should you believe that an alleged violation of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics may be involved in the situation you have encountered. The disciplinary complaint forms are used in filing a complaint against a REALTOR® Member of the Association.   Once completed, please submit the form to querellas@puertoricorealtor.org.

ARBITRATION

Filing a Request for Arbitration—A request for arbitration may be filed if a contractual relationship exists between two parties and involves a specific monetary amount, which will either be awarded to one of the parties involved or split between the two parties. Note that parties subject to arbitration must agree to be bound by the award. Also, the request must be filed within 180 days after the closing of the transaction, if any, or within one hundred eighty (180) days after the facts constitution.  Once completed, please submit the form to normasprofesionales@puertoricorealtor.org.

Este Formulario está realizado y aprobado para la presentación de quejas y/o querellas y ha sido autorizado por parte de la JECVEBR. Le exhortamos a que sigan los criterios adjuntos y se complete el formulario en todas sus partes y el mismo deberá estar juramentado por el querellante, ante un abogado autorizado a ejercer la práctica de la notaría en Puerto Rico.
